I have been told that enrolling in the active duty course (4 months) is not offered anymore. Apparently it is now broken up into phases (1-4) with two distance learning phases and 2 "resident" phases. What are the difference in the distance learning course and the active duty course? Can I certify in NET+ and SEC+ during the online portions or resident portions? Do those masters degree credits transfer anywhere else other than Webster University? Do you get paid for completing the online portions?

I went to the distance learning SCCC in 2016. Half the stuff is from 2007. I think at the time when we asked the AD SCCC had been updated three more times than the reserve one. You also still have the option to use your sccc toward Webster. MBA gets 9 credits and the IT cert is 15 credits.

Sir, to recertify you will need to go to a Pearson Vue Testing Center if you are outside of your three year mark. If you are still within the three years, all you have to do is go on the Comptia website, pay your fees ($150 for three years), and do the required CEU's. Once the Eligible CEU's are submitted, they will review them and let you know on the site if you need more/less.

There is a way to get out of paying the 150 through the military but not sure about the details.

I know you can't get the active duty course unless you're AGR. Doing the online portions probably won't get you paid now. Provided you have a good UA you can get retirement points for the online portions. I believe it's one retirement point for every three course credit hours. In terms of Masters Degree credits I'd check with whatever institution you're thinking of going thru to see! The Resident portions may need to be taken in addition to your two week AT requirement for that check with your current COC. Hope that helps! The Signal Advance Coure(Captains Career Course) as well as MI are two of the most difficult on the reserve side. If you don't have the time you can always complete another CCC then try for it later or strike out for a different reserve path. I was FA, OD and LG in the course of my 26 years( just a thought). Good Luck in all your future endeavors 1LT Robert Warren!

LTC Mohor,
Thanks for the great info! I will ask my UA if they have an idea for the retirement points for taking the distance learning courses. Thank you.
