Do you feel that minor things in some Soldiers records are taking great leaders out of our ranks? Why is the recruiting mission staying high during cutbacks? Lets hear some opinions on the looming cuts!

I hope to provide a comprehensive sensible answer here. The two reduction programs (QMP & QSP) have very different metrics for identifying those being targeted to leave the service.

The QMP targets those with various derogatory performance problems (GOMOR, Relief for Cause NCOER and etc.) While the QSP targets those that have limited room for continued service based on the time they've already served.

We must continue to recruit to keep our generational force fully manned, if we closed the recruiting mission we lose capability and it has a long term effect when considering schooling, those that would compete for Warrant Officer/OCS/Drill Sergeant/Recruiter and etc. We cannot miss a year or we have a generational gap in our force. Hope this helps a little, or at least provides a broadening perspective.

Thanks for the comprehensive sensible answer. I am still uneasy about the reductions, how do the numbers stack up; QMP & QSP vs. recruiting and over all additions to the force.

what is going on should have been done years ago, but with the push it was set aside, granted boots on ground but if the sm dos'nt qualify they dont qualify, if the sm is happy as a hamster in a certain rank but exceedes tis/tig then you move up or out

You always need to worry in a downsizing. Especially one where large cuts are being made. There is unfortunately more urgency to making the cuts now than there is to making the right cuts.
