Planning on doing another term in the reserves before I transfer. I was active first and just want to know.

But seriously why would you want to switch over? We have higher rates of promotion and better job opportunities in the army.

MSG (Join to see) - Honestly 1SG, I just wanted to make a change and try to commit to my official choice. But, now seeing what I would have to go through again, and lose out on the titles I hold. I'm second guessing my thoughts of becoming a Marine, in order to progress further in the Army since I'm close to a promotion in the next FY or two.

The first thing you can expect is 13 weeks on Parris Island.
All kidding aside, you start from scratch. I'm not sure about your MOS transferring over without having to go to school again.
I almost never say this but you should talk to a USMC recruiter. They're the ones that hold the true information about the requirements.

No problem. I did the opposite and went Marines first. I will say this though... In my experience you should expect to be mentally strong before going to bootcamp. There is no complaining once you get there. There was a recruit in my platoon that was prior service Army when we went through PISC together. He was easily able to keep up physically and told me that Army basic training was far more difficult physically. That may also be because he was running a 300 PFT on day one. The Drill Instructors didn't treat him any differently from the other recruits. He excelled and was a squad leader through most of our time there on the island.

Best of luck in whatever path you choose to go down.

Your schooling won't transfer. Had a guy in bootcamp that was a SSGT in the Army prior. They made his life hell. He then went thru Marine Combat Training (MCT) and School of Infantry.

Cpl Aaron White - Thanks for letting me know about the schooling CPL White. I should have known they would make someone learn everything the Marine way.

Well you would have to enlist in the Marine Corps after your tour in the Army is up to my knowledge there is no such thing as a transfer to the Marine Corps. Don't wait to late because no mater your rank or time in service you will still go through Marine Corps boot camp as a Recruit. There are NO exceptions. Every Marine goes through Boot. We had two prior service army in my Basic in 1981 and they were treated no different.
