I love the unit I am in and I should be finished with my PL time in the next month or so. According to branch, WIAS tasking come down the chain of command now and can't be coordinated through branch. Anybody have advice?

If you know if someone in a tasking, get the POC from them. Rank/branch/AOC/skills can all play a part too. My last two deployments were all volunteer WIAS, the last in 2018, but my command had to approve.

If you are in the regular Army you just have to wait to be in a unit slotted to deploy. You can try to get pinpoint orders to a unit deploying. Branch would be the ones to call for that. But it sounds like that isn't going to happen. Deployments are somewhat hard to come by these days. You are pretty much going to have to wait.

Not entirely true... It still matters if you know someone... In this case, my FORSCOM WIAS team can task a Corps or Major Subordinate Command, or do a by-name fill for a requirement if there is a volunteer and they get unit commander approval.
