Is discipline lacking in our Special Forces, and Navy SEAL teams?

SEAL teams are without a doubt world class warriors, but have they gone to far away from the military bearing necessary for a cohesive military unit to accomplish there jobs. As witnessed by the Gallagher trial. Is unit loyalty being put above common sense and even lawful behavior? Murder is murder, war is war, there should be a dark line between the two, not a gray area. They do what their supposed to do, and keep their traps shut. Personally, I believe all this other crap is from a lack of leadership that aren’t keeping control of their soldiers the way their supposed to.

I can tell you why you never hear about Delta, they don't talk, don't bragg and are required to be the quiet professional. I was a member for 12 years from 1979 to 1991. We had to train with ST6 at least every year. I'll put this way, we didn't bragg in bars and we never took credit for successful operations; The Unit gave credit to other Troops supporting the operations. I can't judge the other Seal Groups but ST6 is another matter I'll keep to myself.

It is a lot more complicated than just that. In my opinion we recruit a certain type of person to do a very specific thing with little to no input. Sometimes those things are very violent and aggressive. Lets not be too quick to pass judgement on warriors that have been asked to do things the common Soldier would or could not do, then wonder why they drifted off course. I am not condoning any actions, but I can see a clear connection between the lifestyle and bad decisions.

I can't totally disagree with you comment SGM, but without control and discipline a military unit is no longer a military unit, and it can, and often does, become just a bunch of thugs. That is what my question is all about, is discipline in our elite units lacking? And that extends to not only members but leadership as well.
