In one of my prior unit I was assigned to, we had our chemical officer attempt the Special Forces Assessment Course. I think he was a first lieutenant at the time and made it all the way through, graduated the course, but was not selected for the qualification course. Delta is even more selective. Delta is undoubtedly the elite of the elite... You do not want to mess with Delta!

What I like about Delta vs their Navy equivalent (Seal Team 6) is that Delta accepts candidates from all branches of the military. It’s truly the “best of the best.” While Seal Team 6 (DEVGRU) is only comprised of Navy members.

LTC (Join to see), I read Inside Delta Force by Eric Haney. According to him (at the time), Delta didn't even exist "on paper". When mail was sent to a Delta Force member at Fort Bragg, their mailing address was something like the "XXXth Quartermaster Company.

LTC Stephen C. I don't know, it would news to me, though I would expect that these units would form joint task forces for many missions (at least, that would make sense). They are interesting beyond the geewhizwow stuff as their approach is reputed to be a bit different from typical Army thinking.

LTC Stephen C. - Delta for the longest period went by numerous names and you couldn't even find their compound on Bragg unless you were in the know. Today, they've got a huge sign with triple strand concertina and DoD armed guards...

LTC (Join to see) - Quiet Professionals...I remember BG Potter telling us that you'll never see a news article about SF...that was in '89. Things have changed but it took 15 years to even make a documentary about SF exploits in Afghanistan...
