Earning the Green Beret was one of the most difficult things I ever did in my life. Upholding the proud heritage of my unit throughout multiple deployments made me appreciate this award even more. Unfortunately, the US Army is trying to diminish this award, please sign the petition below to keep this distinctive piece of headgear sacred.

Done! And shared to Facebook.
As a former soldier who's unit worked heavily with the 75th Rangers I was so upset when the Army traded off the iconic Black Beret to be used as a normal uniform item for the entire Army. I know the beret does not make the SpecOps soldiers "Special", but there is an important element of tradition that the beret, tab, and scroll represent from one generation to the next. I can only imagine how the active Rangers felt seeing the black beret on every non-SpecOps soldiers for a long time.
I sincerely hope this mistake is not perpetuated with the Green Beret. Again, iconic and tradition!

Tom I remember when the black beret was given to the entire Army, I was floored. It is even worse with SF due to the fact it is a Presidential Award.

Kevin I gladly signed. this not something trivial this is a Presidential Award. My thoughts are if you want one, go earn one. Absolutely disgusting!!! Kevin another thing most people don't get is an SF guy spends more time out of the beret than wearing it, all the deployments, training, war etc... Mostly limited to garrison but after 20+years I was still very proud every time I put it on my head.

Cynthia Croft - It's not the same shade of green. When I read that, I damn near choked.

Cynthia Croft - I would not mention using a sand colored beret either. Nor would I advise any shade of blue either.
