Yesterday, National Post ran a story how a Quebec Politician is really upset that their favorite tennis star is moving to the Bahamas to avoid high taxes. Today's story talks about how the 'tax Rich argument' is hollow and how Celine Dion moved to Nevada that has no state or corporate tax. By the way, Quebec has one of the highest taxes and it's the biggest black hole financially of any province in Canada. The Western provinces, that are rich in oil ,subsidizes one of the most populated and one of the most expensive. Didn't most rock bands from the UK coming like the Rolling Stones, do the same thing decades ago? Is taxation in expensive California one of the main reasons this populous state is number 49 out of 50 states?

Rich from everywhere don't have offshore accounts for no reason. Avoiding taxes is usually reason #1.

Tax Avoidance: Nike “Just Did It” Again, Moving $1.5 Billion Offshore Last Year
The Nike Corporation’s annual financial disclosure of income tax payments is always notable for two recurring trends: the Oregon-based company’s steady shifting of profits into offshore tax havens, and Nike’s apparent effort to conceal how it’s achieving this tax avoidance. This year’s report, released earlier this week, is no exception.

Canada is already split. The French part of Quebec got beaten by the British in the 1760s. In the 1960s, they rioted and there was talk of a separation from Canada as recently as 40 years ago but they would go bankrupt overnight if they did. Provinces of the West like Alberta and Saskatchewan subsidized them.
