I know there are a good number of you who have a passion for a good military novel or may even have a collection/series of books regarding military service. What are some books you are reading/have read and would like to suggest?

"The Brotherhood of War" series by W.E.B Griffin. Awesome series. Follows Soldiers from WW2 to Vietnam.

These are at the top of my list too, Sarge. I've read the entire series a dozen times or so over the last 20 years.

Been on the Commandant's Reading List for years however, and although it is in the "Science Fiction" genre, there is actually almost no Science Fiction in it.
It's Political Commentary, or Philosophic Commentary on "Public/Military Service," depending on how you approach it.
The major theme of the book is, Franchisement (True Citizenship, as opposed to just Nationality) is earned through Service. The book approaches this through the story of a young Mobile Infantryman's journey up the ranks.

2ndLt Matthew Johnson The movie only shares the name. It isn't actually an adaptation. The movie is about Fascism, and licensed the name. Essentially it merged two unrelated concepts (two wildly different political concepts at that).
Check out Moon is a Harsh Mistress as well. It's a parallel to the American Revolution by Heinlein. Honestly anything by Heinlein is worth reading.

2ndLt Matthew Johnson the story behind the movie (not the movie plot) is an interesting one. The writer/director/producer team had a specific goal (a movie about Fascism). They in turn ended up licensing Starship Troopers and overlaying it on top of the 'rough draft' of the movie script to create what we saw in theaters.
So we got the characters, and the timeline (to an extent), but not the same message.
Heinlein's work however is truly a masterpiece (most of them are). He was a Naval Academy grad pre WWII, so he many of his works strike a special nerve when it comes to service.
My personal favorites are Starship Troopers, Moon is Harsh Mistress, Glory Road (first book of his I read), and Time Enough for Love (there is a great short story in this one about a mustang naval officer). I rotate through his collection about every 5~ years of so.

Anything by Stephen E. Ambrose, "The Pacific War" (I have to look up the authors of that one), "The Longest Day", and "In Harm's Way."
