So we stand/ sit here and say “ how sad, how unfortunate for this poor soldier “.. Ladies and gentlemen how many women (and men) do you think are here within this grouping that are reading this in tears reliving their own horrors??
This is what I request, demand from others, from the E-1 to the 4 Star General- what
Will be done? How will this be TRULY dealt with? Written reprimand for an assault is like slapping a child molester on the and and saying “bad boy”. When is it that we truly stand as brothers and sisters and IGY6 means something? This is beyond disgusting and truly as a female who am has dealt with this and now helps others through their traumas... enough of the games.

SGT Rebecca Farrar You are correct, but diatribes like this one of yours does not necessarily help the situation. And SGT (Join to see) is unfortunately quite correct in her statement.
You say "...enough of the games," it is not a game that is part of the problem. Unfortunately it is not only about sexual abuse, assault, or just about the physical power trip in the instance between two individuals, it is about power and control over society. A personal example that I have direct knowledge of is where in a school progression plan for a non special needs child it came down to the following - the school through its educators and administrators did not care whether the student learned anything or anything of educational consequence, but that the student only felt good about going to school. That was more than 20 years ago. Do you think things have gotten better since then, no, they have gotten worse. Another prime example of this attitude and failure across society - not too long ago, the High School diploma was the prime key for entry level entry into the job market, now it is a Bachelors degree for the same entry position. What is worse, not too long ago those High School graduates could on their own pass a state exit exam, interestingly a significant number of current university/college baccalaureates could not pass that same test.
And you do not have to be a female to have to deal with this.

Someone is going to take offense to my comment but let's cut the "female" mess. Neither of you are in the military anymore so stop dehumanizing people and reducing them down to their reproductive organs. That's part of the reason problems like this exist. I guarantee neither of you refer to adult males as "males", you call them man/men so if you can do that for them, have that same energy for a women.

Now to my point: the culture surrounding this in the military needs to change. We can begin by giving women their humanity and not making sexual jokes, blowing off the seriousness of sexual assault and language because regardless of how y'all feel, language is extremely powerful-hence the reason we have written laws, regulations and such.
