Thank you, Democratic Rep. Anthony Brown, for ensuring our universities control and limit speech to that which is "Acceptable" to the tenured professors and overpaid administrators. The elite have always had our best interests at heart, after all, and we were growing complacent in our belief that speech was a right given to us by God and protected by the constitution. Douchebag. Is that acceptable?

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

If he knows a little something about the First Amendment, then he is wasting time and resources by even putting this into writing and introducing a bill. If he doesn't know anything about the Bill of Rights, then he should be stripped of office and sent packing. Either way, this guy is in the wrong job.

@SSgt Ryan Sylvester SSgt Ryan Sylvester Been a Software Engineer & a Systems Engineer & a Systems Programmer... some hints

1) in order to be taken seriously on the software side you need a Masters... a PhD is a waste of time & money unless you want to be a college professor or do R&D. I've done both if those as well... was happier as a Systems Programmer and got paid as much.

2) Database Programmer/admin... pats a ton & always in short supply. Also transfers well to Data Mining, Big Data and Knowledge Engineering on the AI Side.

Good luck!

Sgt Wayne Wood - Thanks for the insight, much appreciated getting some pointers in the field. And yeah, the PhD is only if I want to seriously pursue positions on the SES side (I honestly don't know I could stomach the politics). Otherwise, I'm likely to stick with certs needed to climb the GS grades.

SSgt Ryan Sylvester - As a retired GS-15 Step 10 - I wish you the best of luck. By the way as SES makes @ $10K more per year then I did and I had less headaches

SSgt Ryan Sylvester - My daughter took a computer class at a highly accredited university. (I won't embarrass them by saying it was UCI... oops) The professor showed up the first day to introduce his TA's and then disappeared. So, I taught her programming. I then taught her some specific skills for which she got professional certification. She left the university and began working as a contractor at Boeing with a 6-figure income. She never did finish her four-year degree. I also worked as a Director at a professional consultancy that insisted on recruiting from top accredited colleges like UCI. Not impressed. They learned their skills on their own. Incidentally, none of those recruits earned the kind of money my daughter did. Sure, the degree with help you get jobs at places like consultancies, but you'll earn your money with the skills you obtain (mostly on your own). Now, if you want to transcend mere technology and go into management, you'll need an MBA (and sell your soul to the devil)
