In my opinion, the attack on the USS Cole (DDG 67) was the real start of the war on terrorism. October 12th is the 18th anniversary of this tragedy. I wasn't onboard or active when this occurred but these were my shipmates! #NeverForget #USSCole #FairWindsandFollowingSeas

That I think is a sound thought. We were pretty heads in the clouds, or sand depending on your perspective, on ship security prior to this incident.
