Military uniform in airport
With all the craziness in the geopolitical scene, I can't say I care too much about becoming a target, or being uncomfortable.

ISIS is bold enough to threaten us at home, and SMA has granted permission to travel in uniform. To me, that is a passive way of saying that Americans and the rest of the world need to know we're here and not afraid.

When I signed up 7 years ago, I ultimately agreed to be uncomfortable, a target, and a servant to the people. Even if my service is as simple as being there to give them a safe feeling.

Other. If required to wear it, wear it. If allowed to wear it, wear if if you so choose. If forbidden from wear, don't wear.

I would wager that for the majority of us in the military (men even more so) it is pretty easy to pick out who is (or likely) military regardless of the clothing they are wearing. It is the way we walk, talk, even stand.

I always get mistaken for a dependent. When I reveal my boot-wearing career, I often get met with disbelief. I guess my stoic face indicates the truth. Lol

CMSgt (Join to see)], it is because your a girl/woman/chick/female...heaven forbid the public remember that the other sex is just as combat boot wearing as men.

I personally don't have an issue if Soldiers wear their uniform on domestic flights, as long as they don't look jacked up. I flew from Augusta to Albany two weeks ago and had to make two on the spot corrections. The first was a female specialist with her hair down, hand in pocket, talking and walking on her phone. Three of my pet peeves rolled into one. At first the female told me "it's not that serious" but after I asked for her unit information she bunned her hair back up. The second was a SGT with one of the most jacked up set of ASU's I have ever seen. Ribbon rack wasn't straight, dirty, strings hanging off chest pockets, definitely off the quarter and eighth inch measurements. Luckily I had time between fights in Atlanta so I could square him away. As I stated in the beginning of this rant, I don't have an issue if Soldiers are in uniform on domestic flights; however, your uniform better be squared away before you step foot out of your house. It's not going to a garrison where thousands of Soldiers will help you out, you are on the national stage at that point representing those of us who respect our uniforms and what they stand for.

Way to do the right thing as an NCO and make those corrections, SFC (Join to see) .

Well done. Thank you helping these Soldiers understand the importance of maintaining a professional appearance whenever and wherever they are traveling.

Utility uniform shouldn't be worn on commercial flights period. And what boils my blood even more is when people are shopping at the mall with them on, just for attention.
