Really interested in the Army dustoff program. Background: current major certs NRP, FP-C, CCP-C. And yes I do have all those required abc cert classes as well.
My question is, what is the process for a civ flight medic to become a army flight medic? I’ve talked to local recruiters and even the AMEDD recruiter and they couldn’t answer my question. I know, of course go through basic, but I’m guessing I can just accelerate through the 68w AIT. I’m wondering if anyone here knows the exact process. Any related info would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

You would accelerate through to whiskey phase in AIT and, once in the flight paramedic program, you would also accelerate through to the critical care phase, they may actually send you straight through to the flight phase at Ft Rucker since you’re already a civilian flight paramedic. The most difficult part would be getting into the flights paramedic program. Many soldiers wait years for a slot. Are you looking at active duty or guard?

Thanks for all the info. Really appreciate it. Yea, I’m gonna try to talk to NG recruiters to see what they can do for me also.

Loyd Gaza I spoke to people who know things and this is the response I got back.
“He will need to go through basic and AIT but since he is already a paramedic they will only make him go through some of the Army trauma (TC3) courses. The his paperwork will end up on our desk and we will bless him off with a packet that he will build. Should include NRP, FP-C, all his cards and timeline of where he’s been working (built like a resume). MAJ Keen and I will bless off and send him home with F2 orders and you guys can start progressing him.”

Hopefully that helps.

SGT (Join to see) - thanks much. That's good news. What I'm worried about is that I will end up in a unit that doesn't have flight medics and whoever the command is, will not let me go to the class. I've heard mixed responses about how competitive it is and how their command is not allowing them to go.

Loyd Gaza that’s definitely a chance you take. As I said before, they may pick you up straight out of AIT and since you’re on the same post for 68w as the flight paramedic program is, you can request your platoon Sgts connect you with the NCOs with the flight paramedic program. They should be able to help you with that.

Where do you currently live? If you are interested in the Army Reserves, I know my BN is looking for flight medics. Send me an email at [login to see] if you would like to know more.
