How long will my husband be deployed with the IRF given that he has only 10 months left in his contract?

My husband has 10 months left before ETS, and just got deployed from Fort Bragg with the IRF. My question: what's the longest he could be deployed? Is it likely he will be sent home with at least 3 months left in his contract to transition?
He was scheduled for BLC and so it came as a shock when he was scheduled to deploy and we are still adjusting. It would be easier if there was a tentative timeline of how long he'll be gone.

The news said they will be deployed about 60 days. The Army is required to bring him back at least 90 days for ETS. He has had 7-8 months where he could have started SFLTAP, so that's on him for not doing it yet. If he wants he can extend another year when he returns if he needs more time to adequately prepare.

Patricia Overmeyer - They gave me the flight to L.A. and also a new issue of military clothing. Why I'll never know. Still have the field jacket however. Two in fact, the one before deployment and the one upon ETS.

SP5 Michael Barczykowski - Hubby got a new uniform that he outgrew in three months (he was 180 lbs when he went to Nam, 135 lbs when he left). Still have his uniform and his rain poncho. The jungle boots finally died in the 1990s. He'd love to have those again.

SPC Stewart Smith yes, the stop loss days are long gone. Now when a deployment is scheduled people are offered the chance to extend in order go on the deployment.

Depends on the situation in theater. Unless they freeze transfers or institute a stop-loss, they'll get him home before ETS.

Based on the eventual size and scope of the deployment this could turn into a Stop-Loss situation. During Desert Storm they issued the stop loss order shortly after the staging began and it remained in effect in the units redeployed back to home station. It is likely there are Soldiers with less than 90 days to ETS so it would not surprise me to see the order sooner rather than later.

He could be there 30 days. He could be there 180 days. If he fully intends on getting out, then he shouldn't be where ever he is for the whole 10 months since he is gonna need about 30 (perhaps a little less) days to start clearing out of the Army. He will probably need the full 30 and maybe a little more if he hasn't completed his SFL-TAP courses/appointments yet.

I think he was under the incorrect assumption that he should start SFL-TAP with only a year left (that's what he had told me). Then Thanksgiving and Christmas happened so that's how we are now down to 10 months. I know his intentions are to get out when his initial contract is complete this November but I will let him know what I have learned when/if he can contact me.

Individuals who are needing to complete SFL-TAP are put on a by name roster and are informed they need to start SFL-TAP and receive the counseling before stating their intentions to the career counselor Lillian Maisel

I agree that it sounds like he's thinking about staying...especially since he was going to go to BLC with just a few months left.
