ONE brother or sister is too many. Awareness has become a pawn for what? How many other people on a daily basis commit suicide. In the sale of fear, chaos, and confusion we keep offering the problem and the tragic consequences with little or no solution. In the world of diagnosis, the cure is hardly ever mentioned. We used to fix problems but instead have taken this problem and made people 'victims' and once someone has been labeled as such nothing bad can be said.
The path to suicide does not happen out of the blue. People did not awake today and say "today is the day." It developed over a period of time.
War is for shit. Its effects on each are different. We all have different processors and programs internally to manage life's obstacles. We also have mastered the art of 'bitching and moaning' and today's world promotes that like a soap opera. I am not diminishing the real suffering of people I have seen it firsthand in some of my grandson's. I have also seen the other side hunting for a disability rating for a check. Drugs can be a temporary solution to a mental problem but not a lifestyle forever.
Some well-intending folks need to stop trying to dazzle people with their degrees and become good at asking questions, shut-up and wait for the answers. Stop handing out disability ratings and thinking you have served justice, the system or that individual. The great machine of the brain in many more cases than attempted is fixable. Not all belong behind the door 'a,b or c.' It is a process to restore that machine...in this case, the machine has to want it but some like adopting that victim mentality. Get off the political correctness and go back to caring and respecting an individual and then perhaps they can find a different pawn rather than someone who simply wanted to serve their country and in many cases had no idea the road that would take them.
When a person can be liked, respected and trusted it makes it easier for them to help those who come for help. We owe all those in pain our best rather than more lip service.
Perhaps when the pharmaceutical industry stops running the mental health industry some talented people will be able to get back into the REAL HELP business.
