No more Army regs on this? Is it all up to the company commander now? Just curious

There are specific situations when the subdued flag is warn vs the bright flag that is most often warn. Usually units will switch to the subdued flag when they start preparation for a deployment and after they have recovered from the deployment they will switch back.

Some bases have started wearing bright patches on certain days or for ceremonies. I have never been in a unit that did this but I think it's fantastic. The subdued patch isn't the patch with history and many Soldiersover the last 10 or so years have never worn a bright patch. Personally I would love for all patches in garrison to be bright.

I would like to see all patches in garrison subdued or full color. My 10th MTN underneath a full color flag looks pretty nice.

As for flag patches, subdued flags were worn when deployed or in the field. While in Korea, 3-2 GSAB went a step further-- I worked in the Brigade TOC for four months, and when my unit went to the field, *I* had to switch my flag to subdued, despite the fact that *I* was not in the field. These days, I have seen (on Fort Bragg) many different combinations of flags; full-color, subdued, IR, subdued cloth in green/brown/black, etc. It's like there's no standard anymore.

As for unit patches, I did see a few people with full-color 1st ID (aka "Big Red One") patches, and I kind of stared, as I was both confused and proud (my Dad was with 1/4 Cav in Vietnam) that full-color unit patches were coming back.

Anyone have any hard regs that covers this? I'm on MilSuite and haven't seen anything new on full-color patches, except on the new "Pinks & Greens" uniform.

The regulation actually says Commanders may authorize changes and dictate the uniform

I get Facebook updates from 3rd Brigade 101st. At one ceremony for a BSB, the Soldiers in the ceremony have all color patches. In the Audience complete mix, some all OD Green, some OD green but with color flag. So this actually was what I suspected but I wasn't sure.
