CPT (Join to see) I'm officially done with the NFL. When an industry can make over $29 Billion in revenue and the players can't honor our flag and nation then I won't waste my time watching them either! I've boycotted the games since the beginning of the seaosn and I have no plan to return to the NFL until they get their act together and support this country that pays their ridiculous salaries! That is just my opinion and my choice Chris!

CPT (Join to see) - And what does the flag represent? To many it represents oppression - for 80 years under the flag blacks were in chattel slavery - in the early 1900's under the flag Black Wall Street happened and a portion of affluent blacks were bombed in our borders (300 were killed and 9000 left homeless); under the flag Japanese Americans were put into internment camps during WWII.
The flag means freedom to some but oppression to others; who are we to decide who it means what to and how they should react to it?

MSgt John McGowan - I do apologize for giving that impression. When I was in basic training at Lackland (1970) our TI said something to us about “ the brown shoe corps” that led me to believe it was something that happened not that long ago. For whatever reason, it stayed with me, and just happened to pop out at 3 AM or thereabouts, when I was writing that post. I promise, there was no cheap shot intended.

SGT. I went in the AF in 1956. We were issued coveralls but one man was issued a old WW2 pair of boots. Lace bottom and buckles on top.. for sure WW2 type.

Interesting. You believe in the right to tell another American when they can or cannot protest but heaven forbid respecting the right of another American protesting when they feel like it.
As a life long fan, I don't watch the game to see what happens before kickoff, halftime, or post game so why are so many claiming they paid to watch the players during those moments? No seriously, football fans, did you really buy a ticket or turn on the TV to watch the players do pre-game warmups and stand on the sideline before kickoff? No wonder the Super Bowl is so damn expensive, those that go paid for the commercials and halftime show, not the actual game. Think about that.

Your problemmis you don't read what people write. You read a few sentences and think you've got the gist of it. I don't mind a nice discussion. You have your opinion and I have mine. Neither of us are going to be changing their opinions any time soon. Enjoy watching football. I'll enjoy watching hockey. I could take or leave your opinion because really in the grand scheme of things what some random person on the internet says has absolutely no bearing on my life just like what I say has no bearing on yours. The internet is a fun thing. It allows us to discuss things with people we normally would not associate with. I spend my days when not on drill weekend associating with other metallurgists and engineers. Coming on here allows me to talk to non technical people. Its generally fun. Don't get so worked up! I really do not care what you watch on tv or even if you watch tv at all.

MSgt (Join to see) - just stop. Move on. So defensive. Drop the ego. Know there are technical members on RP and some of us also engage with smart people in our daily lives like engineers and academics. In your words, "Don't get so worked up!" You're not better than anyone else on the internet just cause you associate with metallurgists and engineers. Your opinion is equal to that of someone who works in a factory and I respect both equally until one starts bragging about themselves.
"Coming on here allows me to talk to non technical people. Its generally fun." Your words. Next time just say you enjoy engaging people from other parts of our society; not imply as a technical person I have fun talking to non-technical people. Buh bye.
