Thank you my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell for using the movie clip form Forrest Gump to help illustrate the word 'yahoo.' It is always wonderful for me to see Gary Sinise acting.
Certainly Gulliver Swift coined the useful appellation Yahoo in his wonderful allegorical tale Gulliver's Travels. To many the term yahoo is somewhat derogatory when used as description of present company similar to yokel.
Yet yahoo is also an exclamation - some leaping out of aircraft yelled Geronimo :-)
Similarly exclaiming yahoo while leaping off a building or other tall structure into a net or swinging out on a rope-swing over a lake or river is also appropriate.
Yelping at yucky yucca or a yummy yeast-roll at a yearly yuletide feast may well result in yelling or yawning.

Here is a song with yahoo being exclaimed

In our language there are far more synonyms, that are commonly used, for the word yahoo.
