Volunteer Board Member Needed for Nonprofit!
If you have a passion for a cause, Victory for Veterans Foundation is looking for a great volunteer Board Member to fill one of its open vacancy.
We’re looking for someone to bring a lot of their own knowledge and expertiseto the organization’s purpose and network. More importantly, this new board member will bring a contagious excitement with them to the board meetings. Serving on the board comes with important responsibilities and to help you understand what those responsibilities are I’ve listed them below along with (6) traits that we’re looking for in that individual and (4) skills you should have as a Board Member.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1) HIRE AND SET COMPENSATION FOR THE CEO OR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.
2) BOARD MEMBERS HAVE LEGAL AND FIDUCIARY DUTIES.
3) BOARD MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ADVANCING THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION.
4) GOVERNANCE IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF A BOARD MEMBER’S DUTIES.
5) BOARD MEMBERS SERVE AS ADVOCATES FOR THE ORGANIZATION’S MISSION.
6) BOARD DEVELOPMENT IS AN ONGOING PROCESS FOR BOARD MEMBERS.
7) BOARD MEMBERS SHOULD SERVE ON AT LEAST ONE COMMITTEE.
8) FUNDRAISING IS A DUTY OF EVERY BOARD MEMBER.
9) OVERSEEING THE DOCUMENTATION OF AGENDAS AND MINUTES.

Hopefully you will find an applicant to fill this board position who is:
1. knowledgeable with significant requisite expertise

I have to admit when I saw board member it brought to mind being bored as a member - hopefully that will not be the case :-)
