Hi there, my husband was disqualified from joining the army after having a psych evaluation. He passed his medical and physical exam and scored a decent score on his asvab. Military is all he has ever wanted to do but was on hold so I could go to nursing school. His recruiter stated he was disqualified because the counselor noted he did not show any feelings and was not remorseful. - My husband has a history of speeding tickets from 08-‘10. The tickets were waived, we were never told exactly that that was the reason for the eval but besides that there was no other reason we could think of. My question is can we appeal or fight this. My husband cried when he received the news, how is that possible from a man who has no feeelings. Honestly it doesn’t even make sense how someone can assume that. Can he meet with a different psychologist. I asked his recruiter and he said it was a permanent decision and he couldn’t do anything else. Anything helps thank you.

Ask a navy recruiter. They have the most lax ornflexible standards. They might give some pointers as to what to expect to go through as well.

We are going to the recruiters office tomorrow morning? Any recommendations on what we should ask. We will meet with his army recruiter to see what was his exact reason for pdq and PULES score. Then access the office the navy recruiter are there and we will meet with a recruiter there.thank you, we both understand military isn’t for everyone but we want to exhaust all of our options and ensure it was a non waiverable reason before he gives up. We were told by one office once it hits the command surgeon and it’s disapproved you can’t do anything anymore.

Jen A they follow the DODI which covers all branches. However the Army uses AR 40-501 (initial enlisted medical standards)
The Navy can work some things the Army cannot. When I was a recruiter we would often "trade" with other branches if the person really wanted to serve but could not, we would walk them right into the other office and tell the other recruiter the background.

I feel for him, i rarely show emotions, my wife who is a nurse as well says i have "flat affect" which can be a red flag to medical types. But that doesn't mean I dont have feelings, just that others dont percieve them, those who know me well can read me, but i guess you have to know me well first.

Exactly. He has plenty of feelings believe me. I just don’t understand how they can assume that from one sitting and alter someone’s life/ future career from their opinion. -
