NEWSWEEK conveniently leaves out of their disloyal tome the fact that the policy governing Military Commissions at the U.S. military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, comes from President Obama's 2009 Military Commissions Act, which gives unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us virtually the SAME rights you or I would enjoy in a US federal court of law. Gitmo is legal, or it would be closed. 730 detainees have been RELEASED, and NONE have been executed, beheaded, hacked to death, blown up, dragged naked and lifeless through the streets, drowned or burned alive, all things our enemies have done to us and/or our allies. Gitmo is a small but essential piece to the puzzle of how we win the Global War on Terror. All war crimes proceedings should be suspended until the end of hostilities, just like what happened after WWII with the Nuremburg Trials. In fact, the Geneva Conventions an Law of Land Warfare state that even lawful combatant POW's may be held without charge or trial until hostilities end. What's different about these unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us?
