I’m not saying this fight wouldn’t be devastating on both sides but, missile ranges don’t impress me, target accuracy does. Number of ships don’t concern me, command and control does. I can’t speak for all armed forces but, having served 20 years in the US Navy, I know we operate in a dissegregated command and control with command by negation which has proven to be devastating to our enemies who don’t (or perhaps can’t) operate the same way. I still wouldn’t want to pick a fight with #CCP unless ALL diplomatic roads were closed. That war would be costly.

I agree. Add to that the fact that the CCP Central Committee excercises much greater control over PLA operations than the JS does to our forces and I think we may emerge as a battered winner.

All the more reason the Philippines to give us a naval base for strategic and operational objectives. It will give us more naval capacity in China’s back yard.

CWO3 (Join to see) - It will be interesting in regards to Subic Bay. A Canadian and American company will take over Subic Bay operations. We hope that will evolve into more support for our Pacific Fleet. It is also a good sign that the Filipino government refused to lease important naval station to China as it has indicated they want US presence.

The average Filipinos love America for obvious reasons. However, some of the Filipino elite mouth off that American presence in their country will be tantamount to colonialism. Stupid pendejos.

MAJ (Join to see) - It has been rocky since we left, much like Cam Ranh Bay in VN. Many global shippers seized the opportunity for PI throughput post-US. Some right wing influence in PI now, in a tricky region overall. We may think in financial quarters in USA vs. decades or more in China, but we often have tricks up our sleeves. Think DARPA. The space race has spun up too.

MAJ (Join to see) - Agree about average sentiment toward US in PI. COIN - NPA, terror groups, islands.

All battle plans change once the first shot is fired. Tech will be a factor. Prepping the battlefield includes cyber attacks and denial of service. Plan for worst and hope for the best.
