To mask or not to mask?

California gyms gets the green light to re-open for business again. Thing is, there's conflict over whether or not there's still a need to wear masks. The CDC says yes, but the WHO says its unhealthy.

What do you think? Should there still be a mandate to wear a mask while working out? What's makes this all even more confusing, I've already received the vaccine. So if I'm still forced to wear a mask, what was the point?

Gyms on our post do not require mask, if you can maintain social distancing. I cant do it personally, finding a mask that doesn't get drenched sucks then you are breathing that in, nope not for me. I weer my mask going in and when transitioning to new areas. Pain in butt ...but allows me to do exercises mask free.

There was a video where a senior passed out. The rule now is you can remover the mask when you're actively working out. As you say, wearing a mask while working out is extremely dangerous. Sometimes I even have to open my mouth to catch my breath.

Thanks, you too. I'm trying to keep my 11 year old promise I made to myself not to get that beer belly like my dad had. He wasn't fat except for his stomach. I promised I'd stay as fit as I can get through the years.

Finished my second week of weight training at the gym and I feel fine. Some pain in the right shoulder but that's a chronic injury. Had some swelling in my left knee a couple of week ago for no apparent reason so no leg work. Still a bit of swelling but the pain is all but gone so I'm going to try and do some leg extensions and leg presses starting on Monday.

At 6'4 and a short torso, I have pretty long legs. They're strong, but bean pole thin. I'm not giving up on them though. To tell you the truth, I'd just be satisfied if I had a flat waist but that spare tire fat just won't go away no matter how much I diet . One of the negative of aging I suppose.

In other news, some of the members I knew from before the pandemic came back and have gotten as fat as hogs. This one guy I used to admire because of his relentless running, was the worst. Funny too, since the pandemic would have had no effect on a runner. I order resistance bands and continued to workout all through the gym closings to help keep me from losing too much. I figure by the end of April I'll be back to where I left off.
