Thank you my friend LTC Greg Henning for posting the documentary video on the history of air cavalry in the Vietnam War.
Airmobile operations were tested in the Vietnam War as a proof of principle in an operational environment. The central highlands and other areas of South Vietnam were foreboding because transportation infrastructure was insufficient to support an rapid response capability.
Using helicopters in an area where we had air superiority and the rugged terrain limited enemy use of ground to air capabilities [exceptions were in deliberate ambushes ]
FYI SFC William Farrell SGT Philip Roncari SGT Robert Pryor LTC Wayne Brandon Maj Bill Smith, Ph.D. MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. TSgt David L. MSG Andrew White SFC Chuck Martinez CSM Chuck Stafford LTC John Griscom LTC Greg Henning
