Another two-star is on the way to lead the 1st Infantry Division, following the relief of its former commander Maj. Gen Wayne Grigsby, the Army announced Thursday.
Maj. Gen. Joseph Martin, most recently head of the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California, will assume command on Friday, according to Army spokeswoman Cynthia Smith.
Grigsby was relieved Monday, three days after his suspension, but the Army has not offered any details about his case other than to describe his firing as a "loss of confidence."
"He continues to be the subject of an investigation, and we cannot comment further at this time," according to a Monday statement.
Martin is taking over the 1st Infantry Division as it prepares to deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Smith said.
A 1986 United States Military Academy graduate, he has served as deputy commander of the 1st Cavalry Division, commander of 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, and chief of staff of III Corps at Fort Hood, Texas.
Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Broadwater, currently the director of CJ-35, Resolute Support in Afghanistan, will take over at the National Training Center, Smith said.

This isn't the way you want to start your term and a Division commander. I hope whatever happened before, he can fix along with the morale of 1st ID.

Thank you for posting however our flag officers are either being purged or West Point, Annapolis and Air Force Academy have managed to graduate morons and felons...I do not think so.
