I will be arriving at Camp Humphreys in Jan and keep hearing some E6's have been able to get housing. My S3 just arrived from Korea and told me they were putting SSG's in housing, though that info is a few months old. I was wandering if anyone has been given the option to live off post or if there are any exception to policy to allow a SSG to live off post. Thank you for the input!

At Humphreys SSG and below live in the barracks. SFC and higher will either live in SLQ (Senior Leader Quarters) or off post if SLQ isn’t available. I hope this helps...

Thank you. I was tracking that, but I've talked to people who were SSG's and we're authorized OHA without their families there. Usually it was because there was not enough room in the barracks.

Well if you are not bringing family you will be in the barracks. There is plenty of barracks space here not sure what other people had going on but with a huge exception, which is hard to get so maybe they were at some of the smaller instillations. Barracks living is where it’s at for you.

So after some checking around, they are in the new barracks and the NCOs have a suite mate where they share the kotchen and bathroom. I hope this helps youSSG (Join to see)

Are you bringing your family? SFC (Join to see) Answered for unaccompanied SM. Accompanied SM's usually are submitted for on post family housing. If none is available, they then are given permission to move off post. I lived off post from 2016-2018 April.

That may be a blessing in disguise, as you will be able to in process and find housing before family arrives. If your family is not on your orders, you can still send an exception to policy memo to your command, but I have seen it not accepted. Family of one of our soldiers was living off post while SM had assigned housing. This was a struggle for curfew, as SM is required to be in assigned housing during curfew hours. SM dropped a pass every weekend in order to sleep at his families house. He appealed this decision multiple times. It is a whole lot easier if they are within your orders. It is cheaper also!

We used TOP REALTY. Other Reality Companies: http://8tharmy.korea.army.mil/transformation/welcome/off-post.asp We stayed in both Eden Village, and Brownstone Apartments. They are both good choices, but we liked Brownstone the best.
