The infamous Turtle Farm, got its name because it took us a year to go from one building (inprocessing bldg.) to get to the building next door (outprocessing center).....thanks for those posting pictures, made me laugh thinking back to the times at Casey...Doo Doo Creek, the Hovey Midget, TDC, dog on a stick, WARSTEED - MG Honore was the Division Commander last time I was there......great training, great warriors and great times!

I was there while Uncle Russ was the Division CG & 9/11. It was a pretty interesting tour.

Then of course there were those pesky "turtle ditches" that some drunk-as-a-skunk PVT Joe Numbskull would manage to find, and ALWAYS on my SDO weekend! First I'd have to get the doc outta bed to patch him up then top to come pick him up.

They even have ditches with manhole covers to access them! :-) This was from about 1997, the picture! From what I understand, it is still the same, they never enclosed the ditch, 18 years later!!!! :-)

MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca - Give a little history on me and turtle ditches! On my 2nd tour in 87, I stumbled into a turtle ditch. Sad part, I was even sober when it happened! I was down at Stanley with the old Air Cav (B 4-7), my squad was on QRF, we got called out and I was running back to the barracks in the dark and found the damn ditch! Luckily it was shallow and not to painful! Didn't have much time to stop, he to change into uniform and head to the armsroom, airfield, and platoon hooch. Thank God all 3 next to each other, was hurting by then!
Then had to draw weapons and ammo, hop on a slick that was cranked up. We thought we were off to Panmunjom that night! Then they called it off! End of story! :-)

Actually pretty good place to sleep when you missed the last bus for the night and didn't want to do the walk of shame. That and on a piece of plywood behind the PX at Casey.
Or so I've heard...

I was there, too, but in 90-91. I always suspected that the ROK Army ate them all...
