I know this is nothing new, and everybody saw this coming of course. But, simple question, because you all know by now that I never dive too deep into any one topic. What are your thoughts on the additional 40,000 troop cuts to be made by 2018? Are you at all concerned for your own career? And if so, what are you going to do to mitigate and/or prevent being DD-214'd and sent on your way?

It was just announced that SecDef Ash Carter wants to cut the US Army another 40k. How do you think this will affect the force? How will this affect you?

Unfortunately this is the nature of the beast. It happened after Desert Storm and most understood and knew that it would happen again after OEF/OIF. I believe that Congress wont stop at 420. I think eventually by year 2020, we will be at 400 thousand. As for preparing not to face the chopping block. Hopefully Soldier, NCO's and Officers don't have any skeletons in their closet because that's the easiest way to drive down the numbers. Next will be forced retirements and then early retirements. Also, promotion standards have already gotten tighter and that will not stop anytime soon. Many above average Soldiers, NCO's and Officers will find their way out of the Army just for be an average performer.

The Army has a lot of people to cut from, UNSAT/NO-SHIP/ Unable to pass APFT?HT/WT and just lack of a better word Soldiers and Officers who fosters toxic work environment and their job performance is crappy. In saying this let's hope they cut smartly starting with the people I mentioned.

The fact that the president of this Nation is tearing down our troops at a time when so much adversity is going on inside the U.S. as well as the outside seems suspect. We should not be taking our defenses down we should be building them up. The U.S. is at one if it's most vulnerable points now and I hope that no other nations decide to take advantage of it.
