Currently a 25B trying to go to OCS and hopefully landing the 17A MOS. I’ve heard that its extremely competitive for direct commission and was wondering if it was competitive as well for people going to OCS?

It was extremely competitive last year. The only took 59 out of 3335 ROTC cadets. I don't have the stats for OCS but I'd have to assume they would be similar.
If they have interviews for the different branches for OCS, definitely interview and be as professional as possible. Also have some working knowledge of common programming languages.

For reserves it is a different process. All you need is for a unit(typically the commander) to agree to take you in as a 17A. Its not a competition per se if you already have a slot lined up with a unit. Active OCS and Active ROTC is a competition and is divided based on OML.

Oh okey thats a relief. So 17A in the Reserves wouldn’t be over powered like how Intel is? 2LT (Join to see)

The best thing you can do is reach out to the OSM(Officer Strength Manager) of the state you want to join a cyber unit in and see if they have any slots or know of any in a cyber unit.
