Thinking of submitting a package in for OCS but don’t know if my VA disability is going to get in the way of getting accepted.

A VA disability and a medical disqualification from an Army physical are two different things. Unless things have changed a lot, you need a physical to apply and a more extensive and intrusive one before commissioning. If you pass, no problems. If no one has mentioned it, you will have to suspend your VA payment while on active duty.

not sure with the new ACFT, but you used to have to pass the APFT with no profile. You could get an ETP to do the alternate 2.5 mile walk cardio event but the profile had to be the result of extraordinary circumstances (ie combat related). I had to delay getting a P2 for my knees so I could get commissioned.

Once your accepted and ship to OCS call the VA and pause your payment for disability. This way the VA will stop the direct deposit.
The VA and DoD share systems that check and validate service members on an active status.

A serviceember cannot claim both at the same time. When attended OCS I made sure to save all the compensation. At OCS I received a letter that I was required to pay it all back....it was simple for me I paid in one lump sum and paused my VA status.

But to address your question, no it won't hinder your chances.

Wouldn't it depend on the nature of the disability? If one has a profile as a result of one's disability, wouldn't that preclude acceptance into OCS? permanent profiles require an ETP to get into WOCS or OCS, unless they've changed the requirements.

SPC Onel Cruz I was federal (active duty). Is doesn't matter if reserve or active.... Technically you can't receive both disability and any pay status. You will receive letters from the VA expressing that you can't have both.... The different of pay will be subtracted. For me, that's why I knew I needed to save all disability once I received orders.

I want to add if he is doing traditional rather than Federal, the VA will only ask for the days during his drill. Ph1+Ph2+Ph3 for me took 18 months thanks to the pandemic. I was asked to pay back about 47 days of my VA disability which worked out to be deducted in future payment.

I was thinking about going National Guard, so the VA will stop disability just by making the call? Is that simple?

If you can pass a chapter 2 physical you should be good to go.
