Welcome to The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

Good “Sunday!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 7 August 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Friendship Day!” Why Not?

“Can Leadership and Friendship Coexist? Leadership is about relationships, the connections that are made, and friendships leaders create. True leadership is the concern about the well-being of others and true leaders will put people ahead of themselves. There are common traits between leadership and friendship. A great trait about leadership and friendship is loyalty. There is a shared devotion between leadership and friendship, it’s called responsibility and commitment. Trust is also very important in having confidence in each other. Both honesty and compassion share a place with leadership and friendship. The key to having leadership and friendship coexist, is never undermine alliances, never compromise relationships or the mission, and know when and how to separate friendship from leadership. Can you balance leadership and friendship?” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

I expect you have a strong foundation of character rooted in the rock of faith in our LORD. Hopefully you and I are increasingly trustworthy in our relationships with companions – especially spouses. I expect that you appreciate the companions who have proved themselves to be steadfast and reliable including life-long friends. No doubt you are grateful for your relationship with the LORD. 'Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.' [John 15:13 ESV] I expect your dependability, compassion, and honesty are inspirational to those who look to you for leadership, advice and friendship. I hope that you make good use of your time and effort and encourage those most dear to you to focus effort on improving relationships. I pray you that I make steady and diligent effort to supplement our faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love [2 Peter 1:5-8 ESV], my brother-in-Christ Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen

I pray for humility, endurance in selfless service, compassion and sufficient fruit of the Holy Spirit goodness, peace, self-control, and patience for each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads or listens to this prayer. I expect you, like I, have embraced ideas, friendships with less-than trustworthy people, fads, and other whimsical thoughts when we were younger. By God’s grace HE gives us grace to make errors, with lapses in good judgement, and other learning experiences as HE sanctifies our soul. HE always sets boundaries around us from when were born and ensures that each one WHO HE designated to be HIS elect. ‘For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. [2 Peter 1:5-8 ESV]

I hope your integrity is intact and I hope your transparency of character does you justice and is worthy of emulation. No doubt your humility is genuine and you do not put on airs in social interactions since you have self-confidence and have no need or desire to demean others. The LORD justified each of us who are HIS adopted sons and daughters at our salvation and cleanses us of all sin and defects. By HIS grace HE sees us as pure with impeccable character even while HE sanctifies our soul to perfectly reflect HIS image. I hope and pray that you and I have taken to heart the admonition of the LORD to confess our shortfalls and failures and ask the LORD to help us genuinely repent and when appropriate ask for forgiveness. Scripture reminds us ‘for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift,’ [Romans 3:23 ESV] and ‘if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’ [1 John 1:8-9 ESV]

I lift those struggling tonight because of grief, pain, weakness, fear, abuse and/or injustice to YOU, LORD including the guiltless imprisoned, those afflicted with PTSD and mental illness. I pray for sufficient endurance and a strengthening of the character if each one of us who is going through harder times than we have previously experienced – including widows SPC Diana D. Diana Kuzinski, Barbara Reynolds, widowers PO2 (Join to see) CSM Charles Hayden, divorcees, and others whose hopes, dreams, and love has been upended LORD, YOU know how much each individual can bear. I pray that YOU bless each one with comfort tonight, and infuse joy into the soul of each of those grieving, fearful and/or in pain. We recognize that YOU build character through our challenges. Strengthen our endurance through these trials dear LORD. ‘Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.' [Romans 5:3-5 ESV]

I pray that YOU are seeding YOUR Word in the fertilized soul of those we are each earnestly interceding for their eternal salvation. I thank YOU for guiding people to share faith by demonstration to our loved ones. Draw as many as YOU are willing tonight to YOU. ‘Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. … As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. [Luke 8:11,15]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Sunday night and each will awake refreshed and healthy on Monday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.
