From the outside looking in... looks like a bunch of brass-hats shuffling around & polishing their resumes prior to retirement and joining various corporate boards.

Seriously? “Army Maneuver Center of Excellence”? Infantry School didn’t sound impressive enough?

Next they’ll bring back McNamara

Well, they did remove all of the Capabilities and Development Integration Divisions from all of the CoEs. I have to imagine they will fall under Futures at some point, if they don’t already.

Sadly, I kind of have to agree with the "polishing resumes in preparation for corporate board" take.

Armor School is now located at Benning so the MCOE was created to integrate the two.

How else can we justify all those senior officer positions that are so necessary for...something.

From what I have read it has more do with accountability than polishing resumes, although I wont sell them short in that regard. The Army is really trying to alleviate the testing and fielding process for its programs. It takes too long is way to expensive. But if the Chief of staff has one guy, the new commander of futures command, to point at and say what the hell is taking so long with our new handguns then it might make a difference.
Right now there are so many different agencies and stakeholders its pretty crazy trying to, from my standpoint, evaluate a piece of equipment where you are working with the PEO, ARL, JMC and other agencies and they all have different agendas and personnel. Have you ever been to an NIE at FT Bliss ? Its a nightmare.
