Is anyone else a little fed up with line that we have focused too much on counterinsurgency and not enough on the conventional fight? For years defense wonks have been claiming "we aren't ready" and yet little progress seems to have been made. Time to tackle this problem with a sense of urgency.

Sgt Wayne Wood that's what I'm saying, those men, who fought Bravley, valiantly, and selflessly, did not need to die, our shitty politicians sent our heroes, to a land they didn't need to go, to fight a war that wasn't ours.

PVT Leighton Bader generally speaking, the last war we fought that was ours was the civil war... unless you count that as invading another country & oppressing it’s people.

Sgt Wayne Wood I didn't say we oppressed them, even though the people were being oppressed by communists they just didn't want us there. I know it was to stop the spread of communism, but it is my personal opinion, that we didn't NEED to be there, if our opinions differ, than do be it, we both provided great intellectual arguments and had a good conversation.

There's a little bit of fear mongering in this article. We have different lifestyles and different cultures. China projects what it wants to project, and ruthlessly silences internal leaks. The US on the other hand projects conversational effluvium for the world to hear. Are we prepared? Yes. Are we ready? No. China is just the same. I think by espousing this viewpoint, this General and others are trying to sow the seeds of doubt and fear so that the sheep in congress allocate more money. Some of it might be true...but much of it is blown out of proportion, I'm sure.

Hehehe. There is always a fear monger who believes everyone is an immediate and overpowering threat. When I got out of the military it took about 5 years as a civilian to realize how brainwashed I was. Don’t worry Captain. You’ll eventually grow out of it. Stay Strong.
