“What day is it?”
Good “Wednesday & Hump Day!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 15 June 2022!
Today’s Message is: “Heart Day!” Why Not?
Today's message and quotes were inspired by my beautiful wife on our anniversary today - Bella has one of the most beautiful and kind hearts!
“Great leaders will always have a heart for their people and care about them – it’s their way of connecting and demonstrating their compassion and empathy during challenging times. The culture, climate, and emotional environment and stability of the team can be activated and motivated by a leader with heart. Sometimes decisions have to be made with the heart instead of the mind. Are you ready to put people first, serve your community and create purposeful leadership that comes from the heart?” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Heart Day
The physical heart beats by God's grace involuntarily throughout the life of each of us. Those of us who have been through major heart surgery tend to have an appreciation for the heart which can be more profound than those who have not gone through this arduous surgery and recovery. My friend brother-in-arms, and brother-in-Christ SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL come to mind.
1. By God's grace, HE elected me before time began. In the fullness of time, in my case September 1987, HE regenerated my heart and soul and my soul was reborn.
Quotes:
1. Matthew 22:36-40 'Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.'
2. Gilbert K. Chesterton 'Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come shining through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep believing, the dream that you wish will come true.'
3. Pat Riley 'The true warrior understands and seizes that moment by giving an effort so intense and so intuitive that it could only be called one from the heart.'
4. Nicholas Sparks 'The emotion that can break your heart is sometimes the very one that heals it.'
Scripture:
a. John 7:37-39 ESV On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.'
b. Matthew 22:36-40 'Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.'
c. Proverbs 14:30 ESV 'A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.'
d. Proverbs 16:20-23 Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD. The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly. The heart of the wise makes his speech judicious and adds persuasiveness to his lips.’
e. Psalm 57:7-9 ESV 'My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody! Awake, my glory! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations.'
f. 1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV ‘But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”

I pray that YOU bless each of Your adopted sons and daughters who read this prayer or listen to it with sufficient fruit of the Spirit: kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control and that we are becoming more compassionate and kinder in response to the involuntary changes you have been forced to adapt to. HE knows the stress we are under and is our source of peace. I thank YOU for solidifying our character through tests and trials as the proverbial dross is removed in the heat of battle – spiritual. YOU consistently demonstrate love for and acceptance of each of us through YOUR discipline and admonishment dear LORD. ‘My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.’ [Proverbs 3:11-12 ESV]
I lift those who are afflicted with mental disease, TBI, PTSD, cancers, and seemingly incurable illness and injuries to YOU LORD and those who depend on them and those who love them. I pray that YOU infuse hope into each one and those who love and care for them. I pray that YOU heal most though your design of us, medicine, surgery and sovereignly dear LORD. Thankfully YOU heal each and every one of us of from sin and the just penalty for sin. ‘He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.’ [2 Peter 2:24-25 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Wednesday night and each will awake refreshed and healthy on Thursday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.
