Not my circus, not my clowns (any more). All I can say is good luck.
Should any young female Infantry soldier wish to hear my advice, here it is: Meet ALL of the same standards that males do, even if you are not required to. That means ruck 12 miles in the same time with the same load. That means meet your unit PT standard on the male chart for your age group. That means if the unit is in the field for 45+ days without a shower - deal with it. Technically, you may not have to do this to be successful on paper, but sometimes the real success comes from earning the respect of your peers...and PC bullshit aside, if you can't do what they can do, they are not your peer.
That's my $.02. Don't spend it all in one place.

Well said! It's common in support units but in combat arms what comes first with them, the mission or their "exceptions"

SFC Lee Paquet - It happens. That doesn't mean you can't wash yourself, but actual water from an actual shower head...it happens.

I have no issue with this but the PT standards need to be the same. And by the same, I mean the standard for males. women can and will meet that standard but only if they are required to do so!

Cpt. do you really have no issue with this? The reason I say this is due the position of a Cpt, being a company commander. When a commander has a total strength, which is depleted due to pregnancy or infections how does this affect mission effectiveness? Think practically for a moment, when we were in the first Gulf War, there were not any showers where we were. When we invaded Iraq the second time there were no showers. In fact we slept in makeshift holes. I know you understand the lack of these facilities will wreak havoc on a female. So this begs the question does the lack of common sense outweigh mission readiness?

I don't have an issue with it. Pregnancy and female hygiene issues are a concern. That said, men can be taken out of the fight by a number of things. I'm concerned with having fit, well disciplined, trained soldiers who can meet and exceed the standards. The gender is a non-issue if they are all of the above.

Excellent job! This will also happen in Corps for the naysayers. Hope all goes well for them in the young careers. Master Gunny has better things to do than bitch about cover placement and blue shoulder cords.... Semper Fi.
