What happened to being happy with who you are and making the best out of everything?

You were correct in your assumption. A person can change and be happy. If the change is external without internal, there is a conflict. This conflict needs to be resolved before true happiness can be realized.

Is it not human nature to desire self improvement, to reach for something better, more satisfying? That is probably why we came down out of the trees, formed societies, and emigrated around the globe.

Possibly. Some are happy as they are. The intellectuals seemed God or truth. Some were curious as to what was on the other side of the hill and continued on.
I disagree that we came from tree dwellers. Man is and always be as we are, if your gramps was an ape sorry

Human nature seeks truth and meaning in their life. It is a spiritual journey, if it has no internal value, there is no value. There is no sexuality involved.

When I was with the Guard in Michigan, we had a few that were trans, they kept this to themselves and a select few close friends, I had no problem with them, they did their jobs and did what was asked of them SSgt Addison R. SSG Robert Mark Odom .

Sounds to me like someone is going to win a lawsuit.

“President announced via twitter” WTF?! Sorry, doesn’t work that way, whoever fired her is going to get their ass in a sling.

If it’s really the case that was the only reason for the firing.

I smell something fishy though, chain of command should know that... and if you really want to get rid of a troop it’s pretty easy to do.

The policy as it stands now to have the civilian job you have to be in the guard. If you cannot show stability in the guard with your gender dysphoria then you are discharged. It is current policy and the person that did the termination did nothing wrong. I do see this finding its way through the courts and see the civilian job requirement to be in guard going away.
