What to do to re-join with a RE-3?

I joined the Missouri nat. guard on 03/28/2013 right after I got my GED, I had 4 years of JROTC so I was able to join as a PFC. My recruiter had failed to tell me though that with a GED at the time I had to get 15 college credits before I could ship until I was already at MEPS. After he told me this I mentioned maybe I should wait to join until I had the credits first then come back but he insisted that I join then, so I did. After returning from MEPS I was told I had 2 semesters to gain the needed 15 college credits or I would be kicked out. I attended my first semester of college and finished with 8 credits, the following semester I signed up to take another course load of 8 credits. I ended up failing one course so at the end of the 2 semesters I had 14 credits. I was then "Released" as they put it, But when I was kicked out I received a Reenlistment Eligibility code RE-3. I was discharged on 04/08/2014 Since this time I have worked as an Firefighter and EMT I have nothing else wrong with my record. I have been considering trying again for years now, and now that I am 27 I know its now or never because I'm not getting any younger. Do you guys think it is worth looking in to or am I up shit creek without a paddle on this one?

General guidelines:
RE Code 1: May reenlist in without issue.
RE Code 2: May reenlist but restrictions may apply or if the circumstances which resulted in the code no longer apply.
RE Code 3: May normally reenlist but a waiver will probably be required.
RE Code 4: Normally not eligible to reenlist, nor join another service. Usually will require an Exception to Policy waiver to reenlist.

If you look for R3 code in the answers search you will find many conversations on R3 code. Or just talk to a recruiter and see if a waiver is possible.
