I currently am transferring to TNARNG and am having a hard time finding a job because a lot of places want an in person interview. I'm coming off of ADOS in my home state and would love to continue ADOS or even better an AGR job. Is there a way I can find some of these jobs or track them? I landed the ADOS spot i'm in through connections, but being 2000 miles away and not having connections, I am struggling. Also upon arrival to my new unit as a 2LT in TN could I get some advice on what will help me advance my career now that I've commissioned? I branched AG 42A. Hoping it will help me find a good place with my civilian career.

Thanks for your input ahead of time.

AGR and Technician jobs are typically announced through USAJOBS.gov. Conduct a web search. You can also contact the State HRO through the TN NG webpage to see what opportunitiesmay be available.

As for the IST, you should have a POC who is working your transfer from the losing state and the gaining state. Typically, that person is a full time State Technician or AGR. They should also be able to provide you some POC’s in the state that can help with finding a unit vacancy for an M-Day roll.

These two have some good insight on the process as junior officers in the Guard. Perhaps they can help. cc: CPT (Join to see) CPT Laurie H..

1LT (Join to see) - What area are you looking at moving into and what type of employment are you wanting? I might know some people.

Hello MSgt, I am trying to be close to Nashville, but also in a reasonably affordable area. I wouldn't mind one of the surrounding cities. I previously have worked oil fields, and as a waiter/server. Honestly as long as the job pays well and keeps me alive and going i'm happy. Thanks!

Gotcha sir. Nashville is one of the more expensive areas of the state to live. I don't know much about employment opportunities there unless you are a Firefighter or EMT. Various industries around Knoxville, Jefferson City, and Morristown are growing like wildfire right now. I don't know if those areas are acceptable depending on how close to Nashville you need/want to stay. Best advice I have is to search USAJobs.com, Indeed.com, and Monster for local opportunities.
