Has anyone recently gotten back from PSBCT? I report Feb 28th. Have they quit the 6-week basic, and switched to a 10-week basic?

I graduated PSBCT in August. We were a six week course, but we were told (rumor mill of course) that they were going back to the 10 week course ASAP. To be honest, the 6 week course was not well planned out. Big Army hit TRADOC with a requirement and then gave them no time to adjust the curriculum to effectively train everyone up in six weeks. For me, being prior Army, it was a needed refresher on weapons systems and Army life and six weeks was fine. For Navy and Air Force, I think they were provided a disservice. Six weeks was not long enough to train them properly on everything they were not familiar with.

Thank you! I have been out for 10 years so I definitely need a refresher course but I am not looking forward to doing the entire basic training again with all the newbies. Rumor has it that my cycle be the last cycle that is a six week course so I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that is the case!

I leave for PSBCT @ Leonard Wood tomorrow. My orders say 5 weeks and 4 days. As far as I know, this cycle was to be the last PSBCT but now it looks like they may do more. Hopefully the horror stories of arriving only to find out you’re going to OSUT aren’t legit.

I graduated April 13th. I was told that they were going to have one more PSBCT cycle, then everyone after that will go through the 10 week regular cycle. If you get picked up by Charlie 2-10, be ready for hell! lol Seriously, NOT a gentleman's course. You still get treated like a private and yelled at a lot. But it's 'basic' combat training, so that is to be exptected. Be prepared for a lot of sitting around. Thankfully, it's only 6 weeks!

Yep. I was in Alpha 2-10. It was not a joke. Basic is basic - definitely not a gentleman's course. It was different than what I went through in the nineties, but still no cakewalk.
