I'm filling out my Volunteer Recruiter Packet, and I see there are a lot of questions digging into the applicant's background. Which is expected. So I'm wondering, aside from the obvious, which is felonies of any type, what are some other show stoppers that will get my packet denied?

It's less in depth than a SECRET clearance is. You're not guarding nukes, you're recruiting. It's basically to see that you can handle your day to day life without any crazy stuff distracting you from the job. It's not like having $20k in unsecure debt will stop you from being a recruiter, or that being diagnosed with PTSD will stop it (depending on severity) - low and behold I had both and am sitting in USAREC right now.
If you can pass height/weight and APFT, don't have any bad NCOERs, and don't have any current open civil cases or are in collections, you'll be fine. Not only that, but once you're at the recruiting course you'll be blown away at a lot of the people "selected" and supposedly in the "top 10%" of their MOS.

Of course NCOERS. Plus if you are currently in a critical MOS. Plus some article 15's that reflect on you character.

Good to know. Thanks Chief! What about finances? The packet had questions pertaining to past debts, and current loan balances. Do you think that will be a factor to be considered?

Depends on type 1 or type 2 offenses. Also there are ways to dismiss those as well. 1 with type 2 5 years or older.
Type 1 is trickier and can be humbling. Have to go all the way up your chain and disclose your situation all the way up to people who dont know your case or background and an mfr to clear said charge or wasnt convicted just questioned etc... I have a couple contacts who have done this before if you like I can follow up with them for better guidance.

Yes please. I don’t have any offenses in any type of form but I do have debts from the last and a few in collections now. Plus my credit score is pretty bad. I just want to be sure I’m not going to be wasting my time. Thanks Battle.

As far as debts go you have time to clear these up now before ever dropping a packet as your going to be required 24 months on station before hrc will release you to recruiter duty.
I suggest
1. Disputing your credit report and seeing what you can have dropped or at least reduced. So long as you have a plan to debt management you'll be good. I have a battle buddy who does work with this as well. Or go through acs finance services. You miss 100% of the shots you dont take. I wiped 77k of medical debt off my record.

Also I'd submit my packet 6 months prior to your 24 month mark which gives you time to remedy it and hrc branch time for the background checks etc to clear.

Credit Ratings used to be part of the Security Clearance Procedures. They can derail you for certain.
