I lost my home and Job and had to move 6 hours away from my unit. A relative of mine placed $200K of debt on my disabled father so he lost his home and lives with me. My car broke down so I have no means to get to drill. I have 2 1/2 years left on contract and I was denied a 368. Can the local NG unit take me if they put me in IRR for a few months or should I seek a hardship discharge? Please help

Talk to your unit and see if they'll let you split-drill. If they'll allow it, find a local unit that doesn't mind having you around. It shouldn't effect the local unit's UMR or MTOE because you're still on the other unit's books.

I have been doing that SGT but my Command has recently been denying my RST and not paying me for UTAs I've done here. They think I'm being indecisive and despite my circumstances they view my move as a choice and expect me to show up or get U's. It's a bad situation and I need out of my Unit the fast way I can.

Have you contacted you company commander directly? If not, call your team leader and let him know that you're calling the company commander. Tell the company commander what your situation is, and why you're asking for help.

Unfortunately, a lot of issues can sit on the desks of the full time staff at an armory and nothing gets done with it.

I ran into that problem myself. I took a promotion during deployment in the other unit in the state then ended up moving out of state. The unit I was in never initiated the transfer to the other unit. It took me a year to get everything sorted out and the IST done. Thankfully the deployment allowed me to not have to be anywhere and by the time I had to be I had found a unit to transfer to and split drill with until everything got done.

Are the circumstances, see if your Army reserve unit could put you on orders for some Mission or you can least make some money and get some bah. I've heard that even in the irr you could still do two-week missions you can still be used with your expertise so check with your unit maybe they can put you on that move cop mop cop and find an active-duty position Stateside or even on the mission so you least get some money. Just an idea I mean they may need some positions available and it may not necessarily be in a war zone. Have you ever thought about that?

I have sir however I'm 2 semesters away from graduating with all my med school requirements and AMEDD is set to give me a scholarship however dropping a semester for orders to get money to fix my vehicle will put me behind another year (certain core classes are only taught at certain times) Money's tight but the honest best solution for me I feel is a local unit so I can finish school. The local Reserve unit may not take me as they are over strength. The local guard units want me but normal means via a 368 is out as my chain has denied it. They say they can take me if I'm IRR but but I still have 2 contractual years. They also said that a hardship discharge with my chaplains help would put a break in my service for around 6 months and they could get me back in that way. Honestly Sir I don't know what to do. I have obligations to fill to the first Army and then my school but everything that could go wrong did.

SPC (Join to see) - I am sorry. I did not see this post until 2230 Mountain Time. Are you saying you're going to get a medical degree? Something to consider in the Army Reserve if you get your medical degree and you become direct commission or go through OCS in the in the guard as a USA are Soldier. I recall in my OCS class we had a medical female who attain her commission through State of California OCS and recognized by Fort Benning. You can also join civil Affairs or psyops. Medical service Corps can let you be on loan to civil affairs and you could even get experience outside your medical field because the medical is so needed by the Army Reserve. I know I'm talking years from now but I have met in civil affairs medical people who were in civil affairs who learned so much and worry about that gives so much being in the branch and they also could have leadership positions too. I don't know what to say on the short-term resolution to your problem but I'm sure others here will give you some insight.
