A bipartisan group of Congressmen are asking the House and Senate leadership to pass an emergency spending bill to reimburse the National Guard for deploying troops to Washington D.C., in the wake of the January 6 U.S. Capitol riot.
According to The Hill, the group consisting of 70 Republicans and Democrats sent letters to the leadership of both bodies this week asking for an emergency appropriation for the estimated $521 million cost of the deployment.
If no action is taken, military leaders said it would have to cancel planned training activities scheduled for later in the year.

Army Secretary: Guardsmen may have 'training issues' if not reimbursed for Capitol deployment
National Guard officials may have to cut troops training beginning in July if Congress does not reimburse the force for its months-long deployment protecting...
Thank you my friend Lt Col Charlie Brown for posting the uplifting news that a 'bipartisan group of Congressmen are asking the House and Senate leadership to pass an emergency spending bill to reimburse the National Guard for deploying troops to Washington D.C., in the wake of the January 6 U.S. Capitol riot.'
Hopefully the required funds will be drawn from existing authorization and appropriations and not require new funding from taxpayers.

LTC Stephen F. That was a disaster in my opinion: sleeping on a floor in a garage (illegal immigrants sleeping in beautiful hotels), one bathroom for an unhealthy number of people, politics kept them away from their families, expenses borne by their respective states and paid for by taxpayers, etc., etc. and now a direct effect on their military training. Some heads should roll as a result of this!

Probably, but let's hope it's not "DEFUND THE MILITARY ". Oh wait, I forgot, that's the Republicans who do all of the defunding. Guess we're OK and it will be just a Cancun trip.
