I believe this have 28 years in prior Enlisted 12 years and currently an Officer. When I joined in 1990, there were almost 350 ships. After Desert Storm, we went though a major drawdown and many afloat units were decommissioned. I would prefer that the money go towards upgrading ships and weapons system than building more
Considering we haven’t seen ships filled to
capacity in a couple decades. It really boils down to a poor acquisition process in the DoD amd congress that controls this have their own “lame” pet projects that lead to over spending and platforms never produced on time. If we
Cut this culture, we can have an even better and fully modernized equipped Navy. If we were at capacity like we should less friction (injured personnel, pregnancies, etc.—things that prevent personnel from being deployed) then we should ask form more platforms, otherwise I see this as gross waste and negligence by our congressman.

LCDR Robert Turcic Congress has already been negligent with the Navy and the rest of the military in general the base realignment and closure and sequestration just to name a few. This attitude of doing more with less is biting us in the ass.
