Can someone tell me why I see full color 82nd patches worn on the duty uniform? I’m not against it. I just want to know if I can wear one as a combat patch and what’re I can find it in the regs. Please advise....thanks everyone!

Originally the subdued patch was designed for combat, not garrison. It is now whatever the command determines as the uniform.

Senior commanders are authorizing it. My friend is commanding in the 101st and they are doing it

I have witnessed it as well. It is found in a little pamphlet handed out when you in process, "standards of the 101st".

The 101st Airborne Divison and Fort Campbell CAM PAM 600-1 (Division Blue Book) on page 17 discussing the Duty uniform:

"e.Non-subdued unit patches may be worn for special occasions with approval from DCSM. When approved, the beret is the only authorized headgear."

So it's not everyone all the time. The photos I have seen are from ceremonies where it would be appropriate.

82nd is doing colored patchesfor ceremonies and specific events as directed by commanders. We aren't wearing color for day to day stuff. I'm in the 82nd and can't even find a policy letter on it.
