How do you feel about the new NCO promotion system?

It seems like a force reduction tool, following the whole "up or out" concept; if they make it more difficult for you to get promoted then you'll leave the service. It's slowing promotion rates down, and right now we are getting the short end of the stick because there wasn't time to meet the new requirements prior to implementation. It will even out in a few years, but the promotion rates will probably stay slower. I'm personally unhappy because I was 4 days short of the SSR for ALC, and they wouldn't let me extend. Somehow, they think it makes sense for an NCO to reenlist for 2 years for NCOES. If I got picked up, I probably would have reenlisted or extended, but after being treated like shit for so long I'm through.

Not a fan. K get the concept and do agree with it. However; shoving it down Guard & Reserve throats so quickly is hurting some nco's, myself includex

School slots shouldn't be a issue. If your unit and State are monitoring the 120 and 90 day lists. In my unit alone we've sent 14 NCO's to NCOES since 1 Oct. The longest it's taken for us to get someone enrolled in SSD 2 has been 2 weeks.

SFC (Join to see) - Perhaps your state has been doing better getting funding. Scheduling isn't so much the issue as school funding is for us.

Just curious how it is hurting you? It will force those NCO'S who are procrastinating on PME to take a more proactive approach I think. Or get left behind. .

MSG (Join to see) - It hurts those of us who have done everything necessary but are held from promotion due to lack of funds to send us to school.

Will make room for some of the ones with a higher sequence number (ill be on the list this year, my first look). I think its a great way to pull the dead weed from the garden. If i happen to be there, then so be it and ill do what I have to do to comply with the system. Were NCOs and wer aughtto be masters of adapting. If you cant adapt to this, then might want to look at yoirself cause the weeder is about to get ya. Were not going to change it, so why fight it. Im not going to roll over like a dog, but im going to pull ot forward and use it to my advantage where i can.

Really? You're gonna make it your first look? Cocky are we? Nobody needs you to be a SFC with an attitude like that. Maybe there is some dead weed that needs to be pulled off of you. Hope you make it next year on your second look.

SSG (Join to see) did i say i was going to make it? Dont think that i did... Only said us with a higher sequence number will be closer to oir sequence number by passing ones noncompliant with STEP.

If I do not make it on my first look, i will adjust and make up my own deficit... Adapt. Please quote where I said im going to make the list...

Historicaly (before step) 79R selection is aproximatly 80% (reference an army times article) http://www.armytimes.com/story/military/careers/army/enlisted/2015/01/19/army-jobs-reclassification-drawdown/21340379/
