Im just wondering what to expect if i ever deploy for the MFO mission

Are you in a line troop or HHT? What's your job? Things look really different depending on your role.

What CPT Jordan is referring to determines your position. Which ever job (line troop or HHT) maintain situational awareness at all times. Tension is definitely increasing in that area. I would not expect too many MWR trips if any.

SSG (Join to see) - Right. You will be in the USBATTT area which extends the entire eastern side of the Sinai from Sharm up to Taba (the entire length of the Gulf of Aqaba). USBATT is split into two CO size AOs: South Sector (IVO Sharm) and North Sector (Everything north of Sharm to Taba), with the remaining CO and HHT located on South Camp (Vic Sharm) for force pro, ECP, and SCRT. Most rotational units rotate through responsibility. Any idea where your CO will be?

The biggest take away between training and reality is that the MFO is there to provide transperancy between Egypt and Israel. The MFO does not "enforce" the treaty itself. It only reports to both sides in the event of a violation. The weapons we have are all for our own defense only. You will not be shooting anyone unless they are actively breaching your remote site. And even then, the primary security of the MFO is the Egyptian Security Forces. That was a hard mindset to reach. Beduins are not a threat. The only treat is ISIS and their related entities operating in the Sinai (mostly up north around North Camp).

Threat is high in the Area. Very fucking high. AQ and IS are very active.
As far as your MFO goes- if the person doesn't bleed red, white, and blue, position yourself to shoot them in the face at a moments notice.
Keep your head on a swivel and do not (or let other around you) get complacent in the mission routine. You may not be in a combat zone or a combat mission set but global war on terror isn't over. I know the politicians declared GWOT over, word just takes a bit to trickle down to the gentlemen (or gentlewomen!- new army) who are going to be there trying to kill some Americans for propaganda.
Make sure you enjoy the local food, it's fucking delicious.
And utilize your level 1 terps correctly. In a pinch you can send them out to the local bazar for stuff if you get sick of MRE

My advice for something you can do now; get up to day on current events.
Read about the area you're expected to be going to, read its history, read about the people, read the news etc etc... You have to fully understand what normal is (you won't really get that till
On ground) but once you know normal it'll be easier to pick out the abnormal.

Hooah SSG I've no idea what I'm talking about!
I've no idea that in early Aug in Sinai a US SM was shot in the arm, while seemingly just a pop shot, it still happened.
I've no idea SSG that early sept in sinai that more US personal were injuried in IED attacks.
Or that if you payed attention during the arab spring you'd have noticed a massive up tick in violence in the area, a general dislike of local populace for our MFO due to the stand off attitude it took during the revolution (although the MFO couldn't really get itself involved, dislike is there none the less)
ohhh but the Egyptian revolution is over and we're into a new fangled thing called the Egyptian insurgency.
I want to put something in your mind SSG. 2015 saw more deaths due to terrorist attacks that area than the US and the UK combined had in the last 3 years of war in Afghanistan.
Is the MFO a combat orientated role? not at all. History shows the deployments to MFO to be uneventful. yet the area is very important to ISIS and the local AQ who have pledged loyalty. Isreali's people have been beheaded in Sinai. It is an ever changing landscape with more and more threats each day.
so I'm going to tell SSG (Join to see) to keep himself safe, keep himself educated on the shifting political atmosphere and all the moving parts, go do his job, and come home safe.
