I understand your viewpoint, however it simply does not correlate with one's rank. Granted an individual may be in a promotable status, but they are not a promotable rank. No matter how one may try to slice it. They are in the midst of transitioning to a promotion, but their rank is what lies on their chest. Besides, there is no left parenthesis P right parenthesis on the individual's chest, just rank only.

Especially when you have some of those SPCs try and pull the "I outrank you because I'm promotable" card on other SPCs. Honestly, the only time I use it is in correspondence...........and that is only if the recipient has it already set up in their email. Otherwise I don't bother.
