I have seen apartment complexes that are advertised as being "no hat, no salute" zones. In my own complex, SMs rarely wear their headgear and I have occasionally seen soldiers going tan, wearing civilian ball caps and drinking beer. Now, I understand the alcohol is a separate discussion, but does this community think that a civilian establishment (such as an apartment complex) should or should not be allowed override military regulations?

I personally dont believe that any complex that has no authority of law can do things like this because to me i see that is plain disrespect for the service members who defend their freedom and they return with this disrespect.

I'm not really sure where this is but unless an establishment is set as an mwr facility or specifically designated by the commanding authority then it is just something put up and not supported by regulation. I'm sure the complexe is doing it to attract young soldiers but it takes education on the part of leaders to set things straight.
