I have 4 years in the Army, 3 in the Coast guard. I had just signed my paper work to reenlist and 2 days later (this Thurs) I get a phone call that everyone attempting to re-up is being blocked ( fy 2014 ets as per a new ALARACT message). If my NCOER's were pulled and ERB was pulled there would be no way that I would not be asked to re-up, especially when we are getting rid of the substandard performers, and those that have had administrative/or punitive actions. Advice from any SME's?

SGT Rashkovsky,

Did you verify this new ALARACT message?

The reason I ask is, retention opportunity/eligibility information does not come out through ALARACT or MILPER messages; it comes out through retention policy messages through the RETAIN system...I didn't see anything that cam out in the last few weeks.

It is all from the sequestrian and the recent govt shutdown, every will pass after the new year, and with a new budget that has passed both houses of Congress, it should make it through the WH before xmas, and a lot of things will be back on track for the most part. Just ride it out for now.

Good luck and have a happy holidays for you and your family.

I looked at all of the ALARACT (All Army Activities) Messages on AKO and did not see a single one dealing with limitations on retention. I only looked back to 1 Oct 2013 which is the start of the fiscal year...

REF: https://www.us.army.mil/suite/page/550282
